This rather came out of nowhere. I realised that I hadn't spent any pressure-free  time in the studio of late. So I started this with absolutely no idea of what I was doing or where it was going. I think that it might denote a little change of direction.

Harbour Seal 2026 A4 Acrylic on Watercolour Paper. Towards the mouth of the river there is a colony of hundreds of these beautiful creatures. If you're ever in this neck of the woods I can wholeheartedly recommend a trip on the Seal Tour boat River Runner to go and have a look at them.

Frank 2026 A4 Acrylic on Watercolour Paper. Frank was our first Duckchum. He's MASSIVE and very funny. We called him Frank because that's all he says. He's always to be found bobbing around with his best friend.

Puffin. 2026 A4 Acrylic on Watercolour Paper. Ok, so we don't see many Puffins along the river but I really like them!

Evinrude. 2026 A4 Acrylic on Watercolour Paper. We love watching these flitting around in the reeds. Someone told me that they can live for up to 6 years. That can't be true can it?

Clint Eatswood 2026 A4 Acrylic on Watercolour Paper. This is a painting of our local celebrity Beaver. He's adorable!

Kingfisher 2026 A4 Acrylic on Watercolour Paper. I've only managed to meet the Kingfisher on a handful of occasions. Once I was standing on the deck quite early and he landed on the railing next to me. We just looked at each other. I said good morning Mr Kingfisher and he popped off on a fishing trip. Out of all of the wondrous fauna that we meet this is the fellow that makes you feel like the sun has shone on you briefly.

Gordon The Moorhen. 2026 A4 Acrylic on Watercolour Paper. I love to see Gordon and his chums strutting about like Malvolio in their yellow tights. Funny little things.

Little Egret 2026 A new A4 Acrylic painting. This fellow is a fairly regular visitor to the river. The brilliant white plumage and elegant manner are really rather beautiful

Vera Duckworth. 2026 A4 Acrylic on Watercolour Paper. This is the duck that learned to use the catflap and comes in to make herself comfy on our sofa (after scoffing the catfood) Her and her partner (Jack, naturally) are usually to be found on our roofs or dozing on the walkways. She's quite a character.

Oystercatcher 2026 A4 Acrylic on Watercolour Paper. We fell in love with the Oystercatcher on our very first morning on the river. From their excited chattering and swooping sorties to their preposterous snowman's carrot nose of a bill they're an absolute delight.

The Wasteland 2026 A4 Acrylic on Watercolour Paper. Continuing my intermittent wander around the Thanet coast this is a. painting of the Nayland Rock Shelter in Margate where TS Eliot wrote part of The Wasteland in 1921.

This is a painting that I made that marks back to a painting from a few years ago Limberlost Wood.
